Following the successful
completion in 2017 of the first
phase of the refurbishment of the
brick arch roof of the 130-year old
“High Neck” tunnel between
Liverpool Central and Brunswick
stations the second phase of the
work was carried out by Network
Rail’s engineers in 2022.
This 125-metre long repair section
of the tunnel was carried out in a
similar manner to Phase 1 of the
project, again using the RAMARCH
system erected by hydraulic lifting
frame from a platform constructed
above the live railway.
Helen Little, Network Rail Works
Delivery supervisor, said: “It’s been
great to train up to install the
RAMARCH system ourselves and the
team now has the skills to take this
on to further work within Network
Rail and save taxpayers’ money.”
