How is Ramwall

manufactured?

Ramwall (reinforced aggregate matrix wall) is a robust ground support system made from high-quality, Cares-approved steel mesh (BS 4483:2005) and galvanized (BS EN ISO 1461:2009) for over 120 years of durability. It can be custom-designed and installed to any shape or size using standard stability and design programs. The system uses preformed type 1 and type 2 sheets, machine-pressed for high strength, with common wire sizes of 6-12 mm diameter. All products and accessories can be galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461:2009.

How is Ramwall installed?

The Ramwall build process is straightforward, allowing for quick installation with minimal manpower and equipment. Here are the steps:

  1. Stack 3 Type 1 and 3 Type 2 sheets alternately to form a 1-meter-high section.
  2. Drive 8 steel dowels through each section for ground anchorage and slip resistance.
  3. Fasten the mesh layers together using systems such as high-quality triple-life hog rings.
  4. Attach facing mesh panels and optional top closure panels according to design requirements for a high-quality finish.
  5. Fill the Ramwall with aggregate, like demolition waste or recycled track ballast, ensuring the fill size does not exceed 70 mm in diameter for optimal filling speed.
  6. For heights over 1 meter, repeat the process starting from the top of the first level.
